How did your organisation come to be?
Bayley House first opened its doors in 1951 as the Brighton and District Branch of the Helping Hand Association. It was born from the vision of a group of parents with a desire to provide educational opportunities for children with an intellectual disability.
Which regions does your organisation look after?
Southern and Eastern Metropolitan Melbourne.
What is your organisation’s difference in the market?
With 70 years of experience supporting adults with intellectual disability, we have a trusted reputation that is well-regarded within our community. Due to this, we have a number of community-based opportunities available for those wishing to pursue volunteering or pathways to employment.
Our purpose-built arts hub provides pathways for emerging artists to be mentored, learn and develop new skills and have their work exhibited in a professional space.
Through STA, we offer themed activity weekends that support guests to experience new places and events around Melbourne while also providing a space that guests can experience completely on their own terms.
Our SDA has recently partnered with a national organisation, BlueCHP to offer co-designed housing for SDA residents.
