Can I change my NDIS plan manager

Can I change my NDIS plan manager?

Making the most of your NDIS plan starts first with having the right plan manager. They can help you decipher the NDIS, make positive budgeting decisions, and save time on challenging admin tasks.

Sometimes, your first choice of plan manager won’t provide the service you need. Fortunately, it’s possible to change your plan manager at any time and it’s simpler than you might think.

This is everything you need to know about making the switch.

How can switching my plan manager help?

Your NDIS plan manager should be helping you to make the most of your NDIS plan. That means taking care of your admin, helping you budget efficiently, paying providers on your behalf and helping you decipher NDIS-related rules and regulations.

If, however, the provider is hard to get in touch with, is not paying provider invoices quickly, or not helping you to thrive, then it might be worth looking elsewhere.

The misconceptions of switching NDIS plan managers

Many participants believe that switching plan managers is a rigorous process that will cause more stress than it’s worth. Participants often also think that changing mid-way through a plan isn’t possible.

Fortunately, neither is true.

Switching can be simple and there are no rules about switching during your plan. You can switch when it suits you assuming you adhere to the notice period set out in your agreement.

How can I switch from one plan manager to another?

If you’re interested in making the switch, these are a few key steps to follow:

  • Search plan managers: look for a plan manager who suits your needs. This plan manager should be simple to reach, be dedicated to participants, and have good knowledge of the NDIS and participant plans.
We recommend calling the plan manager to chat first––this will help you see whether they are easy to reach, friendly and helpful.

  • Inform your current plan manager: once you’ve found the right plan manager, let your current plan manager know you’re switching. Usually, this can be done via email. The cancellation period will normally be between a week and a month.

  • Get started with your new plan manager: once the cancellation period is over, your new plan manager can sign you up and start managing your plan.
