Provider Spotlight: Out Doors Inc.

Most of us have experienced the joy of being out in nature. But for those who experience mental health challenges, being outdoors can be truly therapeutic.

This week we’re highlighting provider Out Doors Inc. which helps everyday Victorians join the path to better health through connecting with nature and building skills in the outdoors.

We recently caught up with the team to learn more about what they do.

Who are Out Doors Inc.?

Out Doors Inc. is a not-for-profit organisation that offers nature-based mental health and well-being programs for Victorians.

They have a range of recreational and adventurous activities, each catering to ages 16+, fitness levels and experience levels, from beginner to advanced. Depending on the type of program, these activities vary from one to five days long.

How did Out Doors Inc. come to be?

Out Doors was founded in 1987 by a number of people primarily working in mental health who had a strong interest in recreation, play and outdoor adventure.

They had a belief that these elements are valuable parts of a holistic approach to personal development and mental health as well as assist to integrate mind, emotions and body.

Which regions does Out Doors service?

Out Doors provides service to all Victorian NDIS participants. Non-NDIS Victorians residing in the North or Eastern Metropolitan region of Melbourne can also access their services.

Out Doors provides access to services from our Kensington and St Alban offices.

What’s the Out Doors difference?

The focus is to provide participants with healthy social connections, skills development, and an immersive experience in the outdoors.

Do you have capacity?

The friendly team is ready now to help you kick-start your journey to better mental health. The program calendar is published twice a year and offers participants numerous programs every month.

Participants that express interest in a program will receive an invitation a month in advance. This ensures all participants have access to the right program for them.
