Provider Spotlight: Thumbs Up Community Service

At myAutonomy, it’s our goal to help participants get the most out of their NDIS plans. NDIS Provider, Thumbs Up Community Service, shares that goal.

Through flexible thinking, they help participants to use their funding in the ways that benefit them the most.

We spoke to the team to discover more about how they help.

Who are Thumbs Up?

Thumbs Up is an NDIS service provider that challenges the status quo by providing a holistic approach to service delivery.

How did Thumbs Up come to be?

Our director, Niydalh Elbouch, was studying for his MBA (Master of Business Administration) at an executive level and had a close family friend that became quadriplegic.

Meanwhile, our HR Manager, Marina Ercegovac, was in the nursing industry. Together they decided to merge their passions and create a service provider that people could count
on.

Which regions do Thumbs Up service?

Thumbs Up caters to most of Melbourne, however, the majority of our participants are from the
following areas:

  • Northern suburbs of Melbourne
  • Western suburbs of Melbourne
  • Richmond
  • Epping
  • Heidelberg

What’s the Thumbs Up difference?

We use a holistic approach to cater to participants’ needs. We explain everything to them and help them understand how they can use their plan to get the most benefit from it.

For example, we had a client who wanted a support worker and cleaner. We suggested that our support workers also can do the cleaning and the participant can clean with the support worker. By working together they were able to gain a sense of independence while improving their daily skills.

Do you have capacity?

We currently have capacity in the following areas:

  • Support workers for daily tasks
  • Support workers for community access
  • Support workers for skill development
  • Psychologists
  • Physiotherapists
  • Nursing
  • Support coordination
