Community activities for NDIS participants

Community activities for NDIS participants

For those who experience disability, access to community activities can increase quality of life, and independence, and boost skill building.

However, accessing such activities can be challenging––even impossible without dedicated providers. We’re highlighting some key providers who help participants access the activities they deserve to work towards their goals.

Let’s dive in.

Sonder Care Group

At Sonder Care Group, positive mentors are paired with participants. Together, they engage in a wide variety of hobbies, interests, and skills––whether that’s 4WDing, kayaking, hiking, fishing, or even going to a rock concert.

Participants share what they’re interested in, and Sonder Care finds them the right match so that the pair can thrive together.

Sonder believes their core difference is their youthful, energetic support workers who are passionate about saying “yes!” and helping participants get the most out of life.

Edge Community Services

EDGE Community Services specialises in providing innovative centre-based day programs and short-term accommodation.

The EDGE team strives to provide social and skill-building opportunities. Their programs are tailored to reflect participant interests and meet individual participant support needs within the context of a group setting.

EDGE offers many program activities including cooking, team building, social outings, photography, music, drama and art. The EDGE day programs aim to increase capacity building, social skills and life skills in a safe, supportive and engaging environment.

Action your Ability

In addition to support coordination and dedicated in-home services, Action Your Ability offers fun activities and programs.

The team at Action Your Ability, believes that having fun while learning empowers participants to build social skills and boost independence. This can help those on NDIS plans to work towards employment, meet new people, and embrace interests and hobbies.

Activities offered include arts and crafts, going to the movies, shopping, fishing, social clubs, and even karaoke. There are also employment programs to help participants work towards meaningful work.
