Provider Spotlight: Nature Freedom
At myAutonomy, we love highlighting providers that are doing great work in the community. Nature Freedom is one of those exciting organisations.
Nature Freedom is helping those who experience disability access the great outdoors.
We asked Founder and CEO Mathew Townsend to answer the following questions about who Nature Freedom is and what they do.
Who is Nature Freedom?
Nature Freedom is a not-for-profit social enterprise organisation focusing on delivering inclusive and accessible outdoor activities.
We help young people, those with a disability, and those with mental health challenges to be included and engage with nature.
How did Nature Freedom come to be?
Nature Freedom was born from a lack of accessibility and inclusion in outdoor activities for those who experience disability. We wanted to change that.
Which regions does Nature Freedom service?
We’re based in the greater Brisbane region including the Brisbane, Redlands, Logan, Ipswich and Moreton Bay areas.
What is the Nature Freedom difference?
Our unique value proposition is ‘inclusion’ –– we want everyone to have a chance to experience nature and the outdoors. Our activities are uniquely involved with mainstream community members to give everyone access.
We also offer integrated activities that focus on social values rather than therapy perspectives.
Ultimately, Nature Freedom is all about outdoor opportunities for all.
Do you have capacity for new members?
We currently have a high level of capacity for self and plan-managed NDIS participants. Specifically, we have spots available for our 3-hour kayaking tours, green thumbs & crafts, and bushwalking sessions which we hold every month.
In the second half of 2023, these sessions may be held weekly also.
See our upcoming sessions, price list, or visit our website for more information.
